Sterling Energy PLC (the “Company”) has been notified that as a result of Mr G P Thomson’s daughter reaching the age of 18, he is no longer interested in 604,048 ordinary shares of 1p each (“Ordinary Shares”) in the Company. In addition, Mr Thomson and his wife have become interested in a further 2,300,000 Ordinary Shares, which have been inherited from Mr Thomson’s mother.

Including the 20,000,000 Ordinary Shares Mr Thomson has subscribed for in the placing announced on 14 August 2009 (the Placing”), he is now interested in 39,041,462 Ordinary Shares in the Company, representing approximately 0.55% of the Company's issued share capital as enlarged by the Placing.
